But he doesn't list where or how he got it.And that he did a restore to last week.I can tell you first hand you cannot remove a virus this way.I think if there was there would be a lot of others complaining about it.

I don't doubt that he got a virus.But I do doubt that he got it here !! I'm pretty sure he don't know how he got infected.

Theo, I have been contributing here since before ?here? was on hostboard. I like the community and would not post something like that for kicks. The virus loaded when I opened a data sheet from the address below

FWIW, some viruses, bots, malware, etc will remain dormant in a system after they have been loaded, requiring a random or determined number of IRQ attempts before they are launched. Others will launch at a time or date that's been predetermined.

Chances are that Marty picked up the offender elsewhere, and his "click" to open the unofficial site just happened to be the magic number(read the IRQ that opened the malicious offender).

Just my .02, i ain't no expert, but i stayed at one of those motels once.

I have Norton that updates itself. I haven't had a virus in several years now.
I do run Spybot and Malware from time to time, but they never find anything serious.

Well I always believe in testing the waters,so I opened all of those data sheets.

Getting the alert when you load something does NOT mean the virus loaded with it.

The virus may have been on your PC and just tried to find a vulnerability at that spot it could use.

Your antivirus let you know about the execution...not when it downloaded. Otherwise it could have blocked the download.

Not really trying to argue, just point out, it may have been lying dormant till then. Not uncommon.

I used to use Trend Micro BTW, have switched to and much prefer Iobit.

I did not know that but it makes sense. I?ve been wrong before? but never on purpose

The ironic thing is I was looking to link to data sheets to disprove another internet ?truth?
